CHRONOS NAMES GEMMA JAMES FOR NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF ASIA ROLE
UK-based sustainability agency is opening a new office in South-East Asia
Chronos Sustainability, the award-winning sustainability advisory agency based in the UK, has assigned Gemma James as its first Regional Director of Asia. The move will take effect at the end of July 2026 with Gemma based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Asia is a consequential region for global sustainability initiatives with a pivotal position in many global supply chains and a growing awareness of sustainable finance and corporate sustainability across the continent. Gemma will build on several Asia-based projects that Chronos has recently been involved with in the region including projects with the World Bank in Thailand and Malaysia, and the launch of a new cage free eggs initiative in India with the Global Coalition on Animal Welfare.
Gemma’s role will include project work, business development and continuing to take a leading role in the company’s Biodiversity and Nature services.
Gemma James, Regional Director of Asia, Chronos Sustainability said:
“Asia is at a pivotal moment in its sustainability journey with evolving regulatory frameworks and sustainable finance gaining momentum. The region faces acute exposure to nature and climate physical risks and it’s an exciting time to be taking Chronos’s experience and expertise to the region.”
Rory Sullivan, CEO, Chronos Sustainability said:
“Asia is key to delivering positive, substantial improvements in sustainability performance for many companies, investors and industries. We know from our experience across Asia that attempts to improve performance in areas like climate, nature and animal welfare don’t work if they are based purely on imposing Western approaches. Gemma’s leadership on the ground will help our clients and partners ensure we find approaches that fit local contexts and enable transformative, global impact at scale.”
Nicky Amos, Managing Director, Chronos Sustainability said:
“From our work with the World Bank in Thailand and Malaysia to our recent animal welfare initiative in India, we are seeing growing demand across Asia for practical, high-impact sustainability solutions. As one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-growing regions, Asia presents significant opportunities for organisations looking to drive positive change. We are thrilled to have Gemma leading our work on the ground. Her experience, insight and relationships make her the ideal person to support our clients and help drive Chronos’ growth across Asia. We’re excited to see her lead this important new chapter for the company.”
